DJSI and Fortune recognize Nutresa’s sustainability practices

  • According to the Dow Jones Global Sustainability Index (DJSI), Grupo Nutresa is one of the eight leading companies in the world in terms of sustainability.
  • Around 3,550 companies from 61 sectors of the economy were invited to participate in this assessment for 2017.

Grupo Nutresa has been included for the seventh consecutive year in the Dow Jones Global Sustainability Index (DJSI) and, consequently, it consolidated its position as one of the most sustainable companies in the world from the food sector. The DJSI is a globally recognized independent benchmark that assesses the performance of the companies in terms of sustainability by means of relevant material criteria in the economic, environmental and social dimensions. Grupo Nutresa has been a member of the DJSI World Index since 2011.

According to the 2017 results, Grupo Nutresa got a total score of 87 out of 100, maintaining the second place in the food sector. Moreover, the Company received the highest score in seven of the twenty-six criteria assessed, including the following: Health and nutrition, Materiality, Risk and crisis management, Tax strategy, Environmental reporting, Packaging, and Human Rights.

Grupo Nutresa continues to consolidate its leading worldwide position in the food sector and maintains its development of capabilities focused on the achievement of the goals the Company has set for the future within a framework of sustainable development and innovation.

Grupo Nutresa was included in the “Change the World” ranking published by Fortune Magazine

Simultaneously with the publication of the DJSI results, Grupo Nutresa was informed about its inclusion into the top 50 of the Fortune’s “Change the World” ranking. The Company was included in the List due to its positive social impact through activities that are part of their core business strategy, side by side with world-class companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Nestlé, Toyota, Unilever and Volvo, among others.

“Change the World” analyzes the role of companies with sales over one billion dollars by means of an assessment conducted jointly by FSG (nonprofit social-impact consulting firm), the Shared Value Initiative (global platform for organizations seeking business solutions to social challenges) and Harvard Business School professor Michael E. Porter. The final ranking, established by editors from Fortune Magazine, assesses the companies with regard to three factors: Measurable social impact, Business results and Degree of innovation.

This is the first time that a Colombian company has been included in this list, whose 2017 issue is its third edition.
