For the 4th year in a row, Nutresa recognized its suppliers

29 May, 2018
  • For the fourth consecutive year, Grupo Nutresa recognized its allies through its “Exemplary Supplier” program, which seeks to develop the capabilities of suppliers and promote best practices in sustainability, innovation and productivity.
  • A total of 23 distinctions in eight categories of goods and services and other special categories were handed out to a total of 17 suppliers, among large companies, SMEs and suppliers of subsidiaries abroad.
  • The event included presentations by experts on the Green Growth Mission in Colombia and on Bio-economy.

In the framework of its permanent work with its value chain to develop sustainable sourcing, Grupo Nutresa held the fourth edition of its Grupo Nutresa “Exemplary Supplier” Program and recognized 17 of its suppliers in Colombia and abroad, a distinction that recognizes their commitment to the development of society and the economic, social and environmental progress of the countries.

The recognition event, led by Carlos Ignacio Gallego, Grupo Nutresa CEO, and the Servicios Nutresa Negotiation in Purchasing team, was attended by the 59 finalists in eight different categories, including large companies, SMEs and firms that provide their services to Grupo Nutresa companies abroad.

Of the 15.800 active suppliers that Grupo Nutresa has, 1.205 suppliers of goods and services were invited to participate in the program this year. Of those 1.205 suppliers, 363 were nominated, who were then evaluated by a technical committee and an external expert. Finally, a management committee was in charge of selecting the 23 companies recognized, from among the 59 finalists.

In addition to the recognition by category, special recognitions were given in the categories of Sustainability and Innovation, as well as to suppliers with outstanding performance in Costa Rica and Chile, and, finally, to the two Grupo Nutresa Exemplary Suppliers, both SMEs and Large Companies, the most important recognition of the day.

The companies nominated were evaluated by multidisciplinary committees and expert allies, who analyzed different variables related to their performance and management in matters of innovation, productivity, the level of logistics service, and environmental and social sustainability.

The Exemplary Supplier Program promotes the generation of capabilities in the participating companies through a process that includes the delivery of results, feedback activities, and -for the first time this year- a space for knowledge transfer through the Open-Space Technology methodology. In fact, in the last two versions, 75% of the suppliers linked to the program have improved their performance in the dimensions evaluated, by 48% on average.

“What we seek through this Exemplary Supplier Program is to strengthen our sustainable sourcing and to continue developing capabilities in the value chain, and we want to continue doing it with you, our allies,” said Carlos Ignacio Gallego, Grupo Nutresa CEO, addressing the guests of the event. He added: “You motivate us to continue advancing on this path that we have set for ourselves to build A Future Together.”
