We are part of the top 10% in the S&P Global Sustainable1 sustainability yearbook

7 February, 2024

After being honored in December 2023 as the most sustainable food company in the World and Emerging Markets –MILA– Indices, Grupo Nutresa has been once again included in the S&P Global Sustainable1 Yearbook, ranking in the top 10% of the same publication’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).

The S&P Global Sustainable1 Yearbook comprises 9.400 assessments conducted within the framework of the Corporate Sustainability Assessment as of February 7, 2024. Different from the Dow Jones sustainability indices (DJSI), the Yearbook also acknowledges the companies that are not part of the S&P Global Broad Market Index (BMI), that is, those that do not have a significant market capitalization.

The positive performance in this assessment reflects Grupo Nutresa’s commitment to enhancing the growing generation of value for all its stakeholders through development, growth and innovation, but especially through the cooperation with people, our partners and society, while also focusing on preserving the planet. In addition, it showcases the resilience, leadership and conscious work of our leaders and employees.

The following practices were highlighted in the assessment process:

Cooperating with people, allies and society

In this dimension, the promoters of the acknowledgment as the most sustainable company in the DJSI World Index focused on the Company’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Management System, as well as on its Health and Nutrition Policy, and its efforts in terms of Human Capital Development.

Preserving the planet

On this front, the Organization was highlighted due to its work related to the management of risks and opportunities associated with climate change, especially its objectives to reduce, by 2030, its greenhouse gas emissions by 40%, and to ensure that 100% of its raw materials are obtained in a productive and sustainable manner. Another underlined aspect is Grupo Nutresa’s commitment to circularity, which is centered on ensuring that 100% of the packaging and containers are designed to be recyclable, reusable or biodegradable.

Inspiring development, growth and innovation

Finally, in the economic context, the CSA highlighted the Company’s work on its materiality analysis, which has been developed based on a double-materiality approach and integrates the environmental and social impacts with the risks and opportunities that may affect its ability to create value in the long term. It also is worth underscoring its sustainability reporting standards, its collaborative work with suppliers through its Exemplary Supplier program, and its corporate models for managing both innovation (Imagix) and sustainable sourcing.

Carlos Ignacio Gallego, Grupo Nutresa’s CEO, stated the following in this regard: “Our adoption of the corporate sustainability assessment criteria established by S&P Global Sustainable1 is a story of a deep learning experience, on the one hand, and of the strengthening of a consistent and coherent collaborative work model, on the other hand. Being once again included in the S&P Global Sustainable1 Yearbook reflects the valuable work carried out by our entire team, as well as the execution of sustainable practices that inspire and enable us to build a better world where development is for everyone.”
