Grupo Nutresa participated in the launch of the fifth “Jóvenes con Potencial” (Youth with Potential) report by GOYN Bogotá

3 October, 2024

Grupo Nutresa is convinced that young people are drivers of transformation and progress
for society. That is why, since 2023, the Organization joined GOYN (Global Opportunity
Youth Network), with the purpose of contributing to the creation of systemic changes that
promote the well-being of the city’s youth through the generation of economic
opportunities, comprehensive training, participation and leadership.

Fifth “Jóvenes con Potencial” (Youth with Potential) report

Thanks to the integration into the partnership, we have participated in the creation and
launch of the fifth “Jóvenes con Potencial” (Youth with Potential) report, which presents the trends and barriers in the pathways towards the opportunities available to the young population of Bogotá. Throughout its six components, the report presents the characterization, analysis and recommendations that both the youth and the experts have identified about:

1) General landscape of the youth with potential, which currently corresponds to 30.1%
of Bogotá’s young people.

2) Trends in the education pathways of the young population, which show that, for
instance, one out of each two young people is not able to go from secondary to post-
secondary education.

3) Employment trends, with powerful messages such as: the aspect that 71% of the youth
values the most about a job is stability, and that there is a major improvement opportunity
in the labor intermediation actors to showcase the services they provide and the respective
opportunities to young people.

4) Entrepreneurship and income generation, according to which young people’s
entrepreneurship projects “respond more to the need of generating immediate income than
to scalable business opportunities, as well as the need the distribution channels have for
their products, more than seed capital for incorporation purposes.

5) Mental health, and early maternity and paternity. Worrisome increases have been
identified in the numbers of reported attempted suicides and, in another context, the
obstacles to the access to education and employment for adolescent mothers persist, in
combination with the lack of data the country has about early maternity and paternity.

6) Public investment in the youth. In relation to this component, the city presents the need
to increase the direct impact commitments on the young population.

In the light of the diverse challenges entailed by the transformation of this scenario to
guarantee that the youth gain access to more and better opportunities, not only in Colombia
but in many other societies, GOYN emerges as a global initiative with presence in 16 cities
around the world and promotes the well-being of the youth with potential supported on the
work carried out with local actors, financial innovation, interventions based on evidence
and the mobilization of the ecosystem.

Grupo Nutresa continues working jointly with our Business Units and partners on the
development of capabilities for the youth to be able to contribute to the construction of a
better world where sustainable development benefits everyone.
