Grupo Nutresa sows good nutrition habits in Medellín’s San Cristóbal neighborhood

Through our ‘Germinar’ Program, Grupo Nutresa contributes to the eradication of hunger,
to the production of food that generates nutrition possibilities and to the development of
capabilities within the Colombian communities.

That is why, since 2022 and in collaboration with the Grupo Argos and ‘Compás Urbano’
Foundations, the Organization developed capabilities related to social, agro-ecological and
healthy-lifestyle practices by providing 126 hours of training, thus enabling the
installation of sustainable, family-based and community-centered food systems.

Together, we were able to benefit 21 families from Medellín’s San Cristóbal neighborhood by providing support to produce 1.3 tons of food, which represents 3,315 fruit and vegetable servings produced for the families, as well as money savings amounting to COP 6,980,000. “I joined the ‘Germinar’ Project through ‘Casa Loma’… We decided to transform the space together, that is the reason for the change from a community-based to a family-based productive garden. The transformation required a lot of work, collaboration is really important because it keeps us together in the process of getting produce from the garden, because it is not just sowing and planting, it is also necessary to set a connection among everyone as a community…” Jennifer Uribe – ‘Loma Hermosa’ Sector – Beneficiary of the ‘Germinar’ Program.
