Biodiversity, our commitment to the future

At Nutresa, we have adopted a clear and ambitious strategy for the conservation and regeneration of biodiversity, aligned with our sustainability strategy and corporate purpose of generating long-term value.

Understanding the importance of natural ecosystems for the food industry and humanity, our organization works on multiple fronts to protect, restore, and enhance biodiversity in the areas where we operate.

Since 2021, we have had a Biodiversity Policy focused on minimizing biodiversity loss by managing deforestation-free agricultural supply chains and promoting sustainable practices across all our production processes.

Contributions to Biodiversity Biodiversity Policy

Coffee

The Coffee Business is part of the Coffee, Forest, and Climate Agreement, committing to actions against climate change and forest conservation in Colombia’s coffee-growing communities. The business has developed capacities in 658 coffee-producing families in Antioquia, Huila, and Santander for forest protection and conservation, water resource management, and shade management. They have conducted 605 soil analyses and developed nutrition plans for efficient fertilizer use and GHG emissions reduction on coffee farms. They have also delivered 45,200 plants, including trees and shrubs, to be established as part of agroforestry systems in water protection areas, as living barriers, and in gardens to provide food for bees and other pollinators.

We preserve biodiversity while developing community capacities.
